Shareholder Disputes & Negotiations

Things don’t always work out between business partners. Even jointly owned businesses that are started by good friends and a common understanding can go awry for the simple reason that the focus or goals of one of the owners has changed. When there are disputes, there are several ways to deal with them.

The best approach, of course, is to have thought of this potential when the business was started, and to already have in place good written mechanisms to deal with them - buy-out arrangements or other dispute resolution mechanisms. If there is nothing in place, the matter gets more complicated, but a negotiated settlement is usually better than an expensive, time and energy consuming lawsuit. We have the skills and experience to help with this process.
